Weekend Fun-Andrew's Birthday-General Updates

Sorry I haven't posted in a while! So I guess 'll have to catch up in this one!
First of all, "Happy Birthday" to our mom Lois Hopkins who turned 84 years young on January 9th. On the same day my sister Linda went in for a routine colonoscopy and ended up staying in the hospital for the next 5 days! She had the procedure in the morning.....and ended up being admitted to the hospital for a sever reaction to the anesthesia. Linda became very ill...and it took several days to get her system back on track. praise God she is home now...but will have to take time to recuperate and gain her strength back. Mom and Dad were able to stay at Linda and Don's house the entire time and help where needed.

On the home front: We were able to spend a few days with Heidi and the kids while Kurt was gone last weekend speaking at a youth retreat for Rollins and Independent Bible Church youth. They came on Friday around noon, Kurt left about 4:15 for retreat, and then they stayed until late afternoon Sunday! We had a wonderful time with Heidi, Andrew, Jon, Kirsten and Rachelle. It was so nice spending a whole weekend together rather than our normal 5 or 6 hours visit. Jason and Emily and the kids joined us whenever possible the entire weekend and also had Andrew over on Friday night for a "cousins sleepover". the weekend flew by....and I was sad to see everyone leave....it was amazingly quiet when they were gone...even with Joel in the house:)

This Thursday Ken and I will be going to Ann Arbor to see a "top notch" scleroderma specialist at U of M. I will update you in a couple of days as to what the plan of treatment is going to be. Please pray for us for traveling mercies and for the consultation. We are hoping for good news and an avenue for a possible new treatment for my disease. Thanks again for your friendship and encouragement!
